"LIKE
FATHER, LIKE DAUGHTER."
|
The
Boerne I.S.D. has shown some tremendous
support for the fine arts this year
by starting a violin course for fourth grade
students. My daughter Lauren attends school
at Curington Elementary and
was one of the first to sign up for the
class. Every week she attended a one-hour
class on Monday and Wednesday. On Friday
May 16th, 2003 she had her first recital
and made her parents, her family and her
instructor Ms.
Amanda Ligon very proud. She performed along
with about 40 other students from around
the Boerne area. Cathie Meadows,
Fine Arts Lead Teacher – Boerne I.S.D.
- emceed the first annual event. In a time
where the San Antonio Symphony is in serious
jeopardy of shutting down for lack of funding
and support, it is important to realize
how the presence of music, theatre and the
rest of the arts enrich our lives. Music
is has been a part of my life since I was
nine years old. Lauren started playing the
violin at the age of… nine. Like father,
like daughter. I am so very proud of her
and I love her.

Wedding Reception – LADY BIRD JOHNSON
Wildflower Center – Austin, TX
This
gig was kind of rough on the band. We had
a very tight window of time for setting
up and getting ready for the performance.
The show was booked about a year in advance
so we had plenty of time to prepare. But
implementing the
plan to be set up in time was still kind
of stressful. The ceremony and the reception
were held at the picturesque backdrop of
The LADY BIRD JOHNSON WILDFLOWER CENTER.
Founded by Helen Hayes and Lady Bird Johnson
in 1982, construction was completed in 1995.
Overland Partners Inc. was the architect.
My brother Jeremy works for Overland Partners.
The bride and groom looked so very happy
and we wish them the best.
We were into our last set when I noticed
this girl who came up and requested a song
by Chris LeDoux.
We used to play “Look At Your Girl”.
We had learned the song sometime back for
a wedding reception in Houston. This feeling
came
over me when I saw her on the dance floor
again... “I know her from somewhere.”
Then it hit me. It was the couple we had
learned the song for in Houston. Joel and
Elizabeth Sparks. Talk about a freak out.
Their wedding reception was one for the
record books. We had so many receptions
booked as a result of playing theirs. It
was great
to see them again. Elizabeth has been really
successful. She was 2000 Galaxy Grand Prix
Champion and captured the INFF World Championship
Pro title in 2001. Check
out her website at www.elizabethsparks.net/
good to see you two. Come out and see us
anytime.
This Thursday, May 22nd, 2003 the band will
be recording live at “ROCK THE DOCK”
in Kemah, Texas on the Boardwalk. Come out
and be a part of this exclusive live recording.
Friday,
May 23rd, 2003 the band will be volunteering
it’s time to congratulate the students
at CURINGTON Elementary School for one hour.
Saturday May 24th, 2003 we are playing a
wedding reception in San Antonio at
the WESTON CENTRE in lovely downtown S.A.
for Andrea Fischer and Seven Smith.
See ya soon.
